Randy’s Reflections

Worship

Did Abraham worship God an hour a week? How about Moses or King David? How about Jesus? Weekly assemblies are certainly an important aspect of one’s walk of faith. However, they must not be its defining characteristic. We are called to a way of life in the footsteps of Jesus. Our daily submission to this call is how we worship God. (cf. Romans 12:1,2)

Thought for the Day 10/05/10

I heard Bill Maher a few days ago denigrating people who believe in the Bible because of the story of the Flood and because God says that people who “work on Sunday” should be put to death. Without nit-picking his failure to understand what the Bible actually means by “Sabbath” I would suggest that rather than ask us about the flood or Jonah and the whale, why not ask us why we believe in the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead? Everyone knows that crucified people don’t come back to life. Yet, so many people bet their lives on this event which was more than a belief to them: it was a fact that they witnessed to be true in large numbers. Yep, Mr. Bill, we believe in impossible stuff.

Thought for the day.

He who dies with the most toys…probably failed to share.
